We have this morning the name of the man killed in a Monday night motorcycle crash on Barnett Shoals Road: Douglas Nash was 27 years old. Police say his motorcycle collided with a car on Barnett Shoals near Johnson Drive in Athens.
Athens-Clarke County Police were, at last report, still searching for suspects in a shooting said to have happened off North Avenue, near MLK Jr Parkway in Athens: police say a 37 year-old man was wounded, taken to a local hospital for treatment of what were described as non life-threatening injuries.

A Newton County man is arrested in Hall County, caught with what Hall County Sheriff’s Office investigators say was a sawed-off shotgun. James Hegwood is 26 years old, from Newburn. He’s also accused of illegally possessing prescription muscle relaxers.
A 29 year-old man from Jacksonville was killed in a crash on I-85 in Banks County: the Georgia State Patrol says he was driving one of three vehicles in a wreck that was caused by a wrong-way driver on the Interstate. Another driver was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital in Athens with what were described as non life-threatening injuries. It happened about 4 miles north of Banks Crossing. A State Patrol investigation is ongoing.
