Murder suspects arrested, assault suspects sought

There are now murder charges for two men from Athens, two brothers accused in last month's murder of an Athens man who was killed in Madison County: 52 year-old Samuel Jordan was shot outside a home in Hull; brothers Darrius and Dykell Showers have been arrested and charged. Darrius Showers is 20 years old; Dykell is 18. The GBI says the brothers were arrested at their mother's home in Athens. There is still no word on a motive for the murder.

Athens-Clarke County Police were, at last report, still trying to find assault suspects: the victim tells police he was beaten by at least two men in his apartment on Lakeside Drive in Athens. He also says he was robbed of $2,000 in cash.

A 42 year-old man from Hull gets a 25-year prison sentence: Michael Estes pleaded guilty in Madison County to charges that included child molestation.

A Gainesville man is arrested after a high-speed police chase that began in Forsyth County: the Georgia State Patrol says 26 year-old Jamee Hayes was clocked at more than 85 miles hour before he was stopped and arrested on Highway 136 in Hall County. He’s facing charges that include reckless driving and DUI.

A Hall County man faces a long list of child molestation and child cruelty charges: 44 year-old Scott Shelby is accused of abusing his four children, ranging in age from 10 to 14. His wife Rebecca was booked into the Hall County jail last week on similar charges. Scott Shelby is being held in White County.
