Store clerks charged with underage alcohol sales

The Oconee County School Board and Oconee County Commissioners have scheduled a joint planning session: it will take place next Wednesday afternoon at School District headquarters on School Street in Watkinsville.

Jackson County Commissioners, meeting in Jefferson, impose a 12-month moratorium on most new home construction in Jackson County. This week’s Commission vote was unanimous.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrests of three convenience store clerks, all accused of selling alcohol to minors at stores on Highway 129 in Jackson County. A 44 year-old Elberton man is arrested on felony burglary charges: the Elbert County Sheriff’s office says Jimmy Womack was booked into the Elbert County jail.

There is another confirmed case of rabies in Hall County: a rabid skunk in the Clermont area is the sixth case this year in Hall County.

Habersham EMC is warning about scam calls, in which rate payers are told their electricity will be disconnected unless they make payments over the phone. The utility in Clarkesville says such calls should be reported to law enforcement.
