NE Ga police blotter: teen found dead in Jefferson, gun found on campus in Carnesville

The GBI has joined an ongoing investigation in Jackson County: the body of a teenager from Hall County was found beside a road in Jefferson. Joshua Wick was 19 years old. There has been no word on a possible cause of death.

A Franklin County woman faces a weapons charge: the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office says Melinda Umholtz was arrested after a physical altercation with another woman at Franklin County Middle School. Deputies say she had a gun on the campus of the school at the time of the confrontation that happened earlier this week at the school in Carnesville.

It’s a home invasion that is said to have happened last week in Gainesville: the Hall County Sheriff’s Office says two suspects have been arrested and booked into the Hall County jail. Kevin Almanza is 29 years old; Luis Orta is 34. Both are from Gainesville. The victim says they were armed with a handgun when they broke into his home in Gainesville.

A Hall County man gets a life sentence, his punishment for his conviction on child sex charges. Anthony Giessert is 32 years old, from Lula. He was convicted on counts that include sexual battery and aggravated sodomy, charges stemming from his involvement with a young girl said to have between the ages of 6 and 8 years old.

A South Carolina man is facing identity theft charges in Hall County: Aaron Williams is 31 years old, from Aiken South Carolina. He’s charged with fraud after allegedly using the personal and financial information of a 65 year-old woman in Braselton.
