NE Ga police blotter: two shootings in Athens, former Bulldog slugs it out in airport in Newark

Gainesville man pulls gun on firefighters

Athens-Clarke County Police are investigating shootings that wounded two people, a 40 year-old man and a 29 year-old man. Police say victims were taken to Athens hospitals for treatment of what were described as non life-threatening injuries. One of the shootings happened on Chalfont Lane, the other on Jennings Mill Parkway. There was no word on suspects or motive in either of the Athens shootings.

The man shown in a viral video slugging it out with an airline worker at Newark Airport last week has been identified as former Georgia Bulldog football player Brendan Langley. Langley was in Athens for the 2013 and 2014 seasons before transferring to Lamar. The 27 year-old Langley faces assault charges. The airport worker has been fired.

A Gainesville man is booked into the Hall County jail: Keith Bailey is accused of pulling a gun on Hall County Fire and Rescue personnel after allegedly asking them for painkillers.

Seven first responders who were hospitalized after being exposed to what was at first a mystery substance have all tested positive for fentanyl. That is according to the Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office in Ellijay. All are expected to be OK. The exposure came after a traffic stop that led to the arrest of drug suspects in Gilmer County.

They are still sorting through charges for a Hall County motorcycle rider who was injured in a crash in White County: 49 year-old Bruce Morgan, now hospitalized in Atlanta with what are said to be non life-threatening injuries, was allegedly trying to outrun Georgia State Troopers when he wrecked his bike on Highway 129 just south of Cleveland.
