School threats probed in Gwinnett Co

An 86-year-old Athens woman has died several days after she was she was hit by a forklift moving a trash bin in the parking lot of the retirement complex where she lived. Conoly Hester, a career journalist who had worked for the Athens Banner-Herald, was taken to the Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center after the October 18 accident.

A man arrested in Maryland is charged in armed robberies in Jackson County: 54 year-old Jason Dixon was arrested by police in Owings Mill Maryland. He is accused in holdups that happened in April, one of them in Jefferson.

A man from Mount Airy is arrested and booked into the Hall County jail on charges that include road rage. 33 year-old Larry McConnell is accused of leading Georgia State Troopers and Habersham County sheriff’s deputies on a chase that ended when McConnell crashed his car on Georgia Highway 365. He suffered only minor injuries and was arrested after running into nearby woods, reportedly armed with a rifle.

Officials at a high school in Gwinnett County have sent parents an email letting them know that they are aware of the concerns about a threat circulating on social media. The threat, which was sent through Snapchat, claims that a student at Collins Hill High School in Suwanee will begin shooting classmates today. The school says there is no evidence to substantiate the threat, but they plan to have additional police on campus.
