A man from Polk County is arrested on theft charges in Stephens County: the Sheriff’s Office in Toccoa says Charles Beaver is accused of stealing catalytic converters from a company in Eastanollee. The 35 year-old from Rockmart is also facing marijuana possession charges.
Police in Gainesville say a 59 year-old woman was hit by a car over the holiday weekend: she was, at last report, still in critical condition at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville. Gainesville Police say she was walking to a convenience store at the time of the accident. They say the driver of the SUV that struck her is not likely to face charges in the incident, which remains under investigation.
Five people were taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville after a weekend accident that involved a city vehicle. It happened on Thompson Bridge Road in Gainesville. Police say injuries to the victims were not life-threatening.
