Forecasters say Athens and northeast Georgia could be in for stormy weather today, with a chance of thunderstorms and maybe even tornadoes by this afternoon.

We’re keeping an eye on the risk for some strong or even severe storms for metro Atlanta and north Georgia on Wednesday.
Severe Weather Team 2 Meteorologist Brian Monahan said a cold front will bring a line of storms through north Georgia, along with the chance for a few strong storms.
Here’s what you can expect:
- All of metro Atlanta is under a Level 2 out of 5 risk for severe weather.
- Hail and damaging straight line winds are possible
- Brief tornado can't be ruled out.
