The Georgia Supreme Court has rejected the appeal of a man convicted of murder in Franklin County: Brent Shubert is serving a life sentence for the 2013 death of Bonny Cooner, the 33 year-old woman whose body was found at the bottom of a well near Canon.
The 45 year-old Shubert was arrested in Anderson South Carolina and charged with malice murder, aggravated assault, and concealing a death.
Information uncovered during the investigation led the GBI and Franklin County authorities to the secluded well on Casey Road in Canon. Cooner’s remains were recovered and transported to the GBI Crime Lab in Decatur for an autopsy.
