Athens-Clarke County Police report the arrest of a student caught with a loaded gun in a backpack at Clarke Central High School: 17 year-old Kenyas Yearby faces charges that include possession of a firearm on school property; police say he might also face armed robbery allegations stemming from an earlier off-campus incident.
There is a long list of charges for a 24 year-old Gainesville man arrested in Jackson County: the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office says John Gilstrap led deputies on a high-speed chase that reached speeds of more than 110 miles per hour before wrecking his car and trying to run away on foot in Talmo. Charges for Gilstrap include aggravated assault and driving without a license.
There are new charges for Charles Malin, the 38 year-old Flowery Branch man arrested and accused of stealing checks out of mailboxes in Hall County. The Hall County Sheriff’s Office now says he’s accused of identity theft. Malin was arrested last week in Oakwood.
