The University of Georgia says veteran television broadcaster Monica Kaufman Pearson, the first black journalist to anchor an Atlanta-area evening newscast, will present the 2019 Holmes-Hunter Lecture February 12 in the Chapel on UGA’s North Campus.
The Holmes-Hunter lecture is named in honor of Charlayne Hunter-Gault and Hamilton Holmes, the students who, in the early 1960s, broke the color barrier at the University of Georgia.
