On Oct. 30, Hall County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 17-year-old Rigoberto Garcia of Gainesville, GA. Garcia was arrested without incident when he was a passenger in a car parked at East Hall High School. Someone from the department of juvenile justice had driven him to school and learned that Garcia was in possession of a firearm upon arrival at the school. The stolen Glock 40 caliber semi-automatic pistol had been listed as stolen out of Madison County. Garcia gave the pistol to the driver who turned it over to the School Resource Officer before entering East Hall High School.
Previously, on Oct. 20, Deputies recovered a stolen 12 gauge shotgun from Garcia’s residence in Gainesville. The shotgun had been reported stolen out of Gwinnett County. Garcia was not at the residence when the shotgun was recovered. Garcia has been arrested and booked in at the Hall County Jail on charges of theft by receiving (firearm) and possession of a firearm on school property. The Hall County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.
