The Georgia Department of Public Health says Oconee County added another coronavirus death over the weekend, raising the total since March to 32. The Athens-Clarke County COVID death toll holds steady at 50. Athens has passed the six thousand mark in positive tests for coronavirus during the eight months of the pandemic.
Tennis matches that were scheduled for Sunday were canceled because of concerns about coronavirus: University of Georgia men’s tennis coach Manny Diaz tested positive for COVID 19 and UGA, citing what it calls an abundance of caution, called off matches that were scheduled between the Bulldogs and the Auburn Tigers.

Due to a positive COVID-19 test within the Georgia men’s tennis program, Sunday’s competition between the Bulldogs and Auburn Tigers has been canceled.
Head coach Manny Diaz tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday and is in isolation. Diaz has mild symptoms and is feeling well.
Out of an abundance of caution, Georgia and Auburn decided to cancel today’s competition.
