A man from DeKalb County is found dead in Rabun County: William Pottle was 39 years old, from Brookhaven. The state Department of Natural Resources says his body was found in Tallulah Gorge. The DNR and the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office are investigating.

Game wardens got a call about a missing hiker around 9:30 p.m. Friday. Pottle’s car was found in the parking lot of the park’s interpretive center.

Rabun Search and Rescue searched the gorge with a drone and found Pottle’s body.

The body was recovered around 11 a.m. Sunday. It’s unclear how Pottle got to the bottom of the gorge. The investigation is still active. His body was taken to the Rabun County Coroner’s Office.
