The Clarke County School District says staffing shortages caused by issues with coronavirus will lead to campus closures and so-called virtual instruction at four schools starting tomorrow and continuing through at least the end of the week: online learning takes place for students at Cedar Shoals and Clarke Central High Schools, and in Clarke Middle and Alps Road Elementary schools.
From the CCSD...
Dear CCSD Parents/Guardians,
Like many school districts and businesses across the state, we are experiencing staffing shortages due to COVID-19. As we did earlier in the pandemic, we have decided to temporarily change our instructional model at some of our schools.
Beginning Thursday, January 20, students at the following schools will engage in virtual, synchronous instruction through at least Friday, January 21, 2022:
- Alps Road Elementary School
- Clarke Middle School
- Cedar Shoals High School
- Clarke Central High School
We understand that this decision will pose challenges for our students and families, and we did not make it lightly. Principals will communicate details regarding extra-curricular activities and how to access student meals.
We recognize other schools may be affected similarly in the near term. In that instance, those school communities will be notified as soon as possible.
We are committed to returning to in-person instruction as soon as we can safely do so, and we will do everything we can to support you during this time. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Sincerely,
Brannon GaskinsActing Superintendent
