BARROW COUNTY, GA — Testimony concluded on day nine of the Colin Gray trial after prosecutors played video of the Apalachee High School shooting in the courtroom.
There were visible emotional reactions in the courtroom as jurors watched the video presentation of the 2024 shooting.
A Barrow County investigator showed Colin Gray’s jurors a digital timeline from the purchase of a gun for his son to clues about his son’s behavior in the months leading up to the deadly Apalachee shooting.
Gray is accused of allowing his son access to firearms despite knowing the teen could be dangerous.
Earlier testimony detailed an interview conducted by investigators regarding what Gray told authorities about his son’s behavior.
Barrow County District Attorney Investigator Ashley Gilleland testified about the 10 months before the shooting, detailing internet and cell phone data.
Gilleland told jurors that Gray budgeted for and purchased accessories for the gun, including ammunition, sights and lasers.
Investigators also presented text messages between Colin and his son, Colt.
“Colt when it comes to you and if you need something, if I can do it, I will do it,” Ashley read aloud from one of the messages sent by Colin.
Gilleland also testified that Colin expressed concern about his son’s temper, stating, “Colt is relentless and I’m trying not to have him blow up on me.”
The court also heard that the teen took numerous selfies with the weapon and, in April 2024, posed in front of a collage of school shooter photos on his bedroom wall.
On Monday, testimony jurors listened to Marcee Gray, the mother of the accused Apalachee high school shooter about her son’s family conflict before the 2024 shooting.
Colin Gray is facing 29 felony counts connected to the Apalachee High School shooting that left four people dead and several others injured in September of 2024. He is accused of allowing his son access to weapons used in the shooting.
Colt, who was 14 years old at the time of the shooting, faces multiple charges including murder. Prosecutors allege he killed four people, including two teachers and two students, and injured several others.
Prosecutors are expected to rest their case, and the defense is scheduled to begin presenting its case Friday.
