Garrett wins Watkinsville Council contest

Tuesday was election day in Watkinsville, where Chuck Garrett defeated Carolyn Maultsby in a special election for the Post One seat on the Watkinsville City Council. Garrett will fill the unexpired term of former Councilman Brian Brodrick, who has been Watkinsville’s acting Mayor since the March resignation of former Mayor Bob Smith.

Garrett garnered 298 votes, to Maultsby’s 92.

Brian Brodrick, running unopposed, was elected to fill Smith’s unexpired term, which is up at the end of the year.

Annie Wallace, running unopposed in Canon, will fill the unexpired term of Mayor Ray Morgan, who died earlier this year.
