12 year-old boy hospitalized: hit by tree in Helen

We’re learning more about the boy who was injured when he was hit by a falling tree in White County. The boy is 12 years old, from Paulding County. He was swimming in the Chattahoochee River when the tree fell on him. He’s hospitalized in Atlanta, being treated for a head injury.

A 12-year-old boy is recovering after a tree fell on him this past weekend, police say.

The Helen Police Department said the incident happened Saturday at 5:14 p.m.

Officials confirmed to Channel 2 Action News that a 12-year-old boy was hit by a tree on the Chattahoochee River.

Authorities did not say what led up to the incident.

The child was taken to Children’s Egleston Hospital where he’s being treated for a head injury.

His identity was not released.
