A-CC Commissioners delay Classic Center bond vote

Athens-Clarke County Commissioners, meeting last night at City Hall, delayed a vote on a third bond to help fund construction of a new arena for the Classic Center, pushing the matter to a special called meeting that will be held later this month.

Commissioners also voted to trim the list of proposed sites for a new eastside Library and the new Athens-Clarke County Judicial Center. Final votes on locations for the new facilities are expected in November.

The Athens-Clarke County Commission’s legislative review committee meets this afternoon to take up a proposal from the Athens-Clarke County Animal Service Department. The Department wants to set up a pet registration and licensing program for dog and cats in Athens, one that would come with a fee. Today’s Commission committee meeting is set for 1 o’clock at City Hall.
