ACCPD arrests stabbing suspect

Athens-Clarke County Police arrest Stacy Smith, saying the 53 year-old Athens man stabbed and wounded another man on East Clayton Street in downtown Athens. The victim, stabbed in the shoulder, was treated for what police say were non life-threatening injuries. Charges against Smith include aggravated assault.

On August 5th, 2023, at approximately 7:42 PM the Athens-Clarke County Police Department responded to a report of a stabbing at 351 E Clayton St. Officers investigating the incident learned of an altercation between two subjects that resulted in one of the men being stabbed in the shoulder. During the investigation, surveillance video was reviewed and the suspect was identified. The victim was treated at the scene for non-life-threatening injuries.

Stacy Smith, 53 of Athens, Ga was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault.
