ACCPD: eastside shooting suspects in custody

Athens-Clarke County Police report the arrests of suspects charged in an April 2 shooting on Athens’ east side: 17 year-old Cemetrius Robinson, 20 year-old Alysses Williams, and a 16 year-old whose name has not been released are facing counts that included aggravated assault stemming from what police investigators say was a gang-related shooting outside a fast food restaurant on Barnett Shoals Road.

On April 19, 2022, members of the Athens-Clarke County Robbery/Homicide Unit, Gang Unit, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, and the FBI Safe Streets Task Force executed a search warrant at a residence on Highland Park Drive in reference to ongoing investigations of gang-related shootings in Athens-Clarke County. Multiple firearms and ammunition were recovered as a result of the search and three gang-affiliated persons were arrested in connection to a shooting that occurred on April 2, 2022, at the Taco Bell located on Barnett Shoals Road.

Cemetrius Robinson, 17, of Athens, GA was arrested and charged with Tampering with Evidence (F) and Violation of the Georgia Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act. Alysses Williams, 20, of Athens, GA was arrested and charged with Party to the Crime of Aggravated Assault and Violation of the Georgia Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act. A 16-year-old male was charged with Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Firearm by a Person Under 18, and Violation of the Georgia Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act.

Additionally, the juvenile was charged for his involvement in other shootings in Athens-Clarke County. He was charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Firearm by a Person Under 18, and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime for a shooting incident that occurred on 03/18/2022 on Spring Valley Road; and, Reckless Conduct and Possession of a Firearm by a Person Under 18 for a shooting incident that occurred on 04/02/2022 on Birch Valley Drive.
