ACCPD investigating suspicious coaxing of  female into car

The Athens-Clarke County Police Department is investigating following what they are calling suspicious circumstances after a college-aged white female was seen being coaxed into a car in Downtown Athens early this morning.

From the ACCPD: 

Athens-Clarke County Police in conjunction with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation are searching for and attempting to identify a college age white female last seen in downtown Athens early this morning, October 24, 2018 at 12:15 am.  Witnesses indicate that the female was last seen being coaxed into a Black Nissan Sentra vehicle last seen leaving the downtown area traveling east on Broad Street and was last seen in the area of Boulevard and Chase Street.  Anyone with information about the female should contact the ACCPD at (706)546-5900.

The Athens-Clarke County Police Department is currently investigating suspicious circumstances that led to a concern for the safety of a female believed to be in her late teens to early twenties seen in the downtown area during the early morning hours of October 24, 2018. We urge everyone in the UGA community to please take time to review the Athens-Clarke County Police Department advisory copied below and contact the Athens-Clarke County Police Department at (706)546-5900 to report any relevant information as soon as possible.

The University of Georgia Police Department urges all students, faculty, staff and visitors to the UGA campus to follow personal safety strategies designed to lessen their chances of being victims of crime, regardless of when and where they may travel in the area. Some of these strategies include always traveling in groups when possible, always being aware of your surroundings, traveling in well-lit areas when possible, and, if the choice is made to consume alcohol, consuming in a responsible and moderate manner. We would also urge the community to report suspicious activity or individuals to law enforcement immediately.
