Athens-Clarke County Police say they fielded nearly 200 calls reporting road rage incidents in 2023.

From the Georgia News Network…

Recent cases of road rage in Athens have police warning the public of defensive yet non-confrontational driving.

Athens-Clarke Police say the Crime Analysis Unit recorded 181 calls of road rage in 2023. The number could be higher due to some calls being labeled reckless driving. The department traffic unit also says road rage can contribute to car crashes due to driver distraction and speed.

Triple-A says to avoid eye contact with angry drivers, don’t respond to aggression, and if you feel at risk, drive to a public place like a police or fire station. Also, when you park, leave enough room to pull out safely if someone approaches you aggressively.
