ACCPD: two suspects arrested, charged in Athens homicide

Athens-Clarke County Police report the arrests of two men charged in the death of Jarrard Pittard. The body of the 42 year-old homeless man was found December 3 near abandoned railroad tracks off North Avenue in Athens. Police say 26 year-old Andre Carthens and 31 year-old Antion Parks, both of Athens, have been arrested and charged with Pittard’s murder.

December 20, 2023

After investigation, ACCPD identified two persons of interest in the December 3, 2023 death of Jarrard Pittard (42 YOA, Athens).

On December 19, 2023, ACCPD arrested Andre Carthens (46 YOA, Athens) and Antion Parks, aka “Blue” (31 YOA, Athens). Both are charged with Malice Murder. Press Release 2023-12030132

December 4, 2023

ACCPD Death Investigation On December 3, 2023, at approximately 1:34 pm, ACCPD was dispatched to a Deceased Person call in the area of Willow Street and North Avenue near the train tracks.

Upon arrival, officers located a deceased male west of North Avenue along a railroad track. The deceased male has not been identified at this time.

ACCPD detectives are investigating the cause and manner of the male’s death. ACCPD is asking anyone with information about the incident to contact Det. Lister at 762-400-7333 or Hovie.Lister@accgov.com
