As the controversy over a developer’s plans for a solar panel farm in Elbert County continues, Georgia lawmakers take up legislation aimed at preventing solar farms from becoming permanent eyesores.

The state Senate has House Bill 300, which would require companies that lease property for solar farms to restore the land to its natural state after their leases expire. The measure cleared the House earlier this week. The vote was unanimous.

Elbert County Commissioners, also with a unanimous vote, have rejected a Florida developer’s bid to put solar panels on 21 hundred acres south of Elberton.
