Area briefs include Clarke Co BOE meetings, Oconee Co roadwork

Athens-Clarke County Commissioners and Clarke County School Board members focused on youth violence and ways to prevent it during last night’s joint session at the School District’s Central Office on Prince Avenue in Athens.

The Clarke County School Board meets twice today: there’s a 5 o’clock work session followed by a 7 o’clock meeting, with both sessions at Clarke County School District headquarters on Prince Avenue in Athens.

There is an afternoon meeting of the Athens-Clarke County Board of Assessors, a 4 o’clock session at City Hall in Athens.

Several days of paving work are set to begin today on Union Church Road in Oconee County. Drivers on that stretch of road in Oconee County are told to anticipate delays.

A 26 year-old Gainesville man is in the Hall County jail, arrested on domestic violence charges: the Hall County Sheriff’s Office says Kevin Aleman is being held without bond on allegations that date back to this past May.

There are child porn charges for a 20 year-old man from Buford: Seth Marx is in the Hall County jail in Gainesville. Meantime, the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office says US Homeland Security helped with the arrest of the suspected ringleader of a child porn distribution ring. Nabeel Serrano is 35 years old, from Canton.
