Today is New Student Welcome Day at UGA: it’s for University of Georgia students who are on campus for the first time with this month’s start of spring semester classes. Activities are underway at 5 o’clock this afternoon in Sanford Stadium’s West End Zone Lounge.
There is music this evening in Athens: the Dover Quartet is in concert at 7:30 in the University of Georgia’s Hodgson Concert Hall.
Former Royston Mayor David Jordan says he is a candidate for the District Attorney’s post now held by Northern Circuit DA Parks White. White, who says he is running for reelection has been DA in Franklin, Hart, Elbert, Oglethorpe, and Madison counties since 2013.
Banks County Sheriff Carlton Speed says he’s a candidate for reelection. Speed has been the Sheriff in Homer since winning his first election in 2012.
Charles Baker says he is retiring as Clerk of Courts in Hall County. Baker was first elected to the office in Gainesville in 2008. He says he will step down when his current term expires at the end of the year.
