Area briefs: Madison, Oglethorpe Commissions meet, Bowman approves ARPA expenditure

Oglethorpe County Commissioners meet this evening, 6 o’clock at the Commission boardroom in Lexington. Tonight’s Madison County Commission meeting is underway at 6 at the County Government Complex in Danielsville.

An agreement between the state and local governments in Morgan and Walton counties will give electric automaker Rivian another two years to meet investment milestones for the funding of a $5 billion manufacturing facility planned for the Rutledge area. Rivian is looking to hire upwards of 75 hundred workers to crank out electric SUVs on two thousand acres along the Morgan-Walton county line.

The Elbert County City of Bowman will spend more than 100 thousand federal dollars on computer upgrades: the Bowman City Council signed off on the expenditure of American Rescue Plan dollars.

There is a scam alert in Franklin County, where police in Lavonia are warning about people who have been passing bad checks at businesses in Lavonia.

A shooting suspect pleads guilty in Gainesville: Jamario Fryer was charged with attempted murder after firing a gunshot at his sister and pointing a gun at his mother. Fryer entered his plea in Hall County Superior Court.
