Data from the city of Jefferson show the speed cameras set up in school zones in Jefferson have pulled in more than $1 million in revenue collected from drivers who are caught speeding. The cameras have been in place since February of 2021.

The City Council in Lavonia has signed off on an ordinance that creates an entertainment district for downtown Lavonia, in which open containers of alcohol will be permitted. City Attorney Jay Doss says the entertainment district hours will be from 11am to 11pm.
