Athens-Clarke County Police are asking for help from the public in finding the shooter who wounded two young girls--ages 14 and 5--in a Wednesday afternoon incident on North Avenue. Both were taken to a hospital in Athens; police say the 5 year-old was later transported to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
The University of Georgia says a passport scholarship initiative started two years ago has funded passports for more 13 hundred UGA undergrads, helping them to study internationally.

Jeannette Jamieson has died. The longtime state Representative from Stephens County was also a former City Council member in Toccoa. Jamieson was 81 years old. Her funeral is set for 4 o’clock this afternoon at the Chapel of Whitlock Mortuary in Toccoa.
Runways at Lee Gilmer Airport in Gainesville will be closing over the next couple of months, with runway maintenance scheduled for May and June.
