Area briefs: woman sentenced in Danielsville, teen charged in Gainesville

The former Madison County Finance Director gets a three-year prison sentence, her punishment for stealing upwards of $100 thousand dollars from the Constitutional Officers Association of Georgia: Melissa Tolbert worked for the Association before taking her job in Danielsville. She will also serve twelve years of probation.

Amazon hangs out a Help Wanted sign, looking to hire workers in Jackson County: Amazon says it will take on 12 thousand workers, with some of those jobs going to Jefferson. Amazon says the hiring will run the gamut, from full-time to part-time and seasonal employees.

Toccoa will be in the market for a new City Manager: Billy Morse says he’s retiring at the end of the month. Morse has been City Manager in Toccoa for the past ten years, working before that as the County Manager in Franklin County.

A Hall County teenager is in the Hall County jail, facing child molestation charges: Jason Berry is 18 years old, from Gainesville. The molestation allegations date back to earlier this month and involve a child at a residence in north Hall.

Investigators in Hall County have a homicide on their hands: a teenager from South Carolina was shot and killed Tuesday in Gainesville. The Hall County Sheriff’s Office says Gabriel Linares was 18 years old, from Greenville. He died after being taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville. Two teenagers have been arrested and charged in the shooting.
