Athens-Clarke Co Commissioners take up comp plan in session at City Hall

Athens-Clarke County Commissioners meet this evening, 6 o’clock at City Hall. Updates to the Athens-Clarke County comprehensive plan are on the agenda for the agenda-setting session.

The advisory committee that is working on plans for the Mall Area Tax Allocation District meets this afternoon, 3:30 at the Fire Station on Cleveland Road. Athens-Clarke County Commissioners voted last month to use tax allocation district dollars on a planned redevelopment of the Georgia Square Mall property on Atlanta Highway in Athens. It’s a $650 million plan that could include up to $180 million in TAD allocations.

The Clarke County School District listening sessions continue this evening, with a 6 o’clock forum at Cedar Shoals High School. District officials are gathering public input on a new five-year strategic plan. The forums wrap up tomorrow evening at the Library on Baxter Street.

There is an afternoon work session for the Athens-Clarke County Board of Elections, with Board members getting an update on Athens polling places in the session that starts at 3 o’clock.
