Athens-Clarke County Police say a woman is dead after a shooting that happened around 12:30 this morning on Rolling Ridge Drive in Athens. Nyda Hill was 20 years old. An unidentified 17 year-old male is also in serious condition.

On October 28, 2022, at approximately 12:30 AM, ACCPD Officers heard multiple gunshots while patrolling in the Jefferson Road area. At about the same time, ACCPD Communication Officers received a Shots Fired call in the area of Kathwood Drive and Rolling Ridge Drive. Officers arrived at the 100 block of Rolling Ridge Drive, located two gunshot wound victims, and provided life-saving care to the victims. EMS responded and transported the victims to a local hospital - a 17-year-old male from Athens had serious injuries, and a 20-year-old female from Athens was pronounced deceased at the hospital. Athens-Clarke County Police investigate a string of shootings that began Wednesday and continued through early Thursday, with two people injured in shootings at six locations. Police say five appear to have been connected, shootings at Broadacres Court, Bethel Midtown Village, Freeman Drive, Burgundy Court, and Fairview Street. Apparently unrelated was a shooting on West Broad Street, where two men were taken to an Athens hospital with what were described as non life-threatening injuries.

On 10/26/2022 at approximately 4:00PM, ACCPD responded to the area of Broadacres Court regarding discharging firearms. Officers arrived and found that several rounds had been fired in the area of 65 Broadacres Court. No injuries were reported.
On 10/26/2022 at approximately 9:40PM, ACCPD responded to the area of Bethel Midtown Village regarding discharging firearms. Officers arrived and found that several rounds had been fired in the area of 155 Hickman Drive. No injuries were reported.
On 10/26/2022 at approximately 11:37PM, ACCPD responded to the 600 block of Freeman Drive regarding discharging firearms. Officers arrived and found that a residence on Freeman drive was struck by gunfire. No injuries were reported.
On 10/27/2022 at approximately 2:16AM, ACCPD responded to the 100 block of Burgundy Court regarding discharging firearms. Officers arrived and found that a residence on Burgundy Court was struck by gunfire. No injuries were reported.
On 10/27/2022 at approximately 3:40AM, ACCPD responded to the 300 block of Fairview Street regarding discharging firearms. Officers arrived and found that a residence on Fairview Street was struck by gunfire. No injuries were reported.
The investigations are active and ongoing. Preliminary information suggests that these incidents are likely related.
On 10/26/2022 at approximately 9:13PM, ACCPD responded to 2360 W. Broad Street in reference to a shooting. Officers arrived and found that two individuals were shot. Both subjects were transported by EMS to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. This incident is not believed to be related to the above-mentioned incidents.
