Athens Mayor Kelly Girtz says an eviction protection program funded by the Athens-Clarke County government begins accepting applications today.

Starting August 1, Family Promise and The Ark will start taking applications for rent assistance for those who do not currently have an eviction notice. You can only apply to one agency for assistance. Please call the Ark between 9:00 - 12:30 (Mon-Fri) to discuss your eligibility at 706-548-8155 or fill out the online application link below for rental assistance if you are a family.
Starting August 1, If you currently already have an eviction notice from the court, and meet the eligibility criteria below, please fill out the online application link on August 1.
Eligibility:
- Must be an Athens-Clarke County Resident
- Must not make above 65% of Athens-Clarke County AMI
- If assisted, must drop any counterclaims against your landlord
- Must have been financially impacted by Covid-19
Once you are conditionally approved and contacted by us, the following documents will be required:
- Proof of Identification
- Lease in your name
- Two months of Income
Paystubs
SSI/SSDI award letter
Worker’s comp
Court ordered child support letter
Proof of TANF
- Ledger from landlord/Court paper
- Landlord’s proof ownership/authorization for property management company, etc.
- Tax ID#, W-9 Form, EIN, for business, SSN for individual (circle one)
Looking For Shelter?
The shelter assistance form stays open year-round. However, we are a very small shelter with limited space. You will not receive a call back unless space does come available. In the meantime, the form provides additional referrals for families looking for shelter.
