We have this morning the name of the man killed in a Wednesday night motorcycle crash on Athens’ east side: Kashif Abbas was 50 years old, from Athens. Athens-Clarke County Police say Abbas was southbound on Whit Davis Road when his motorcycle collided with a truck. Abbas died in an Athens hospital. A police investigation is ongoing.
A Walton County man is killed in a crash in Jackson County: Richard Palmer was 36 years old, from Monroe. The Georgia State Patrol says he was driving the wrong way on US Highway 29 when his car hit another vehicle head-on. The driver of the second vehicle, a woman from Jefferson, was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.
The Georgia State Patrol is investigating a deadly crash in Elbert County: a man from Bowman was killed in the single-vehicle accident that happened on Highway 172. Bobby Maxwell was 58 years old. There’s been no word yet on the cause of the crash.
A woman from Royston is killed in a crash in Franklin County: the Georgia State Patrol says a truck driven by 49 year-old Mary Ann Baker collided with another truck driven by another woman from Royston. Baker was pronounced dead on the scene of the wreck that happened on Hale Crossing Road in Franklin County; the driver of the second truck was taken to Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center for treatment what were described as serious injuries.
