Attorney General announces Athens indictments

Chris Carr

State Attorney General Chris Carr says a special gang prosecution unit operating out of the Attorney General’s office has obtained indictments against four suspects in a murder in Athens. The accused Athens gang members, ranging in age from 16 to 20, are charged in the March 5 murder of 24 year-old Ja’Vanni McDavid, who was shot and killed in Five Points.

Jaden Appling, Anthony Brown, X’Zydric Faust, and Glendarius Tate face counts that include murder and aggravated assault.

In a statement, Attorney General Carr says “This violence must stop before more lives are lost and more families are destroyed. We have partnered with the Athens-Clarke County Police Department and the GBI since day one and we will continue working together to protect all of our fellow Georgians.”
