Seven northeast Georgia educators will be recognized at the Masters in Teaching ceremony today at Brenau University in Gainesville.

The event, presented by Brenau University, begins at 8:30 a.m. at the John S. Burd Center for the Performing Arts on Brenau’s historic Gainesville campus. Georgia Teacher of the Year Michael Kobito will be the guest speaker. Masters in Teaching is an annual event, returning after a break due to the pandemic. This year’s award winners are:
- Dee Gillespie, University of North Georgia
- Joy Holeman, Fair Street International Academy
- Susan Howard, Lanier School for Inquiry, Investigation, and Innovation
- John Leverett, Lanier Technical College
- Gregory Marshall, Brenau University
- Nicole McGuire, Lakeview Academy
- Jared Mummaw, Riverside Preparatory Academy
