Bulldog QB Bennett flies with Blue Angels

Never let it be said that University of Georgia quarterback Stetson Bennett is not enjoying the fruits of being a National Championship winning football player.

The Pierce County native got the thrill of a lifetime on Friday when he got an opportunity to fly with the U.S. Navy’s Blue Angels flight team at an airshow held in Vidalia as part of that city’s Vidalia Onion Festival weekend.

The Blue Angels posted some photos of Bennett’s flight opportunity and the 24-year-old looked every bit the part of an eager participant.

He got to fly in the second seat on the Number 7 F/A-18 Super Hornet jet piloted by Lt. Griffin Stangel during one of the teams practice runs at the Vidalia Regional Airport, in front of a packed and excited crowd.

Bennett will have plenty of time to recover from the multiple G-forces he encountered during his flight. The Bulldogs recently wrapped up their spring practice schedule and won’t officially be back on the field practicing until August, when Georgia prepares to defend its title for the 2022 season.

The Dawgs begin their defense of that title Sept. 3 when they square off with the Oregon Ducks in Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
