Candidate kicks off campaign for Clerk of Court

There is a hat in the ring in the race to replace the now retired Beverly Logan as Clerk of Court for Athens-Clarke County. Andrew Griffeth is a veteran of the Superior Court and Clerk of Courts office in Athens. He’ll be on the ballot in a special election that will be held in November.

Athens-Clarke County native Andrew Griffeth announced his run for Superior and State Clerk of Court in the upcoming special election. As a third-generation Athenian, Andrew has dedicated himself to preserving the Athens community and strengthening the local legal system for Clarke County residents. Andrew enters the race with over a decade of experience in the Athens-Clarke County Superior and State Clerk of Court’s Office. During that time, he has served as a Clerk with the Family Violence Unit, as a Deputy Clerk, and as a Senior Deputy Clerk.

Andrew had this to say about his campaign: “My top priority is to ensure the people of Athens-Clarke County are served with excellence and our records are preserved with the highest integrity. With over a decade of experience in the Clerk’s office, I know firsthand what is required to provide members of the community and legal system with customer service that is efficient, collaborative and professional. If elected, every person who comes into our office will be treated with the respect and dignity they deserve.”

Andrew plans to campaign on his extensive resume which will be critical to successfully fulfilling the duties of this important administrative role. His platform centers around prioritizing customer service and transparency, implementing new technology, and promoting collaboration. Beyond his professional experience, he believes his deep-rooted ties to the community and extensive service record make him an ideal candidate for the newly opened position.

Andrew has been married to his wife Lindsay for thirteen years, with whom he shares two children, Sawyer (6) and Sutton (3). The Griffeth family are members of First Presbyterian Church of Athens. Before settling down in his hometown, Andrew received his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Furman University. In his free time, Andrew enjoys volunteering with Athens Access to Justice as well as other various community initiatives.
