CCSD prepares for Clarke Connectors Educator Externship Week

The Clarke County School District, with students away for summer break, is making plans for next week’s Clarke Connectors Educator Externship Week, which will connect CCSD teachers with several Athens area employers.

From the CCSD Facebook page…

This week, we’re gearing up for the 2022 Clarke Connects Educator Externship Week, June 6-10, when seven Athens-Clarke County employers will host 26 of our educators to teach them about some of the excellent and local career opportunities available in modern manufacturing, health care, hospitality, and craft beer brewing.

This will be the second year of Clarke Connects Educator Externships, which are experiential learning opportunities provided by businesses in the Athens-Clarke County community for CCSD educators. The purpose is to give educators insight into career opportunities and the skills required for them in order to better advise students with college and career plans.

Participants will spend time at a local business with other CCSD educators, visit Athens Technical College and the Athens Community Career Academy, and work on a presentation that will be given at the end of the week to the participants who were assigned to other businesses.

Thank you to our community partners and sponsors for making the 2022 externship program possible: Caterpillar, Athentic Brewing, Accurus Aerospace, Engineered Fabrication, Inc., Pilgrims Pride, ABB, The Classic Center, Georgia Power, WorkSource NEGA, the Athens Community Career Academy, the Athens-Clarke County Economic Development Department, and the Athens Area Chamber of Commerce.
