Athens-Clarke County Police say a student was pulled out of a classroom at Cedar Shoals High School after making what sounded like a threat involving a weapon. Police say they have issued a juvenile complaint alleging terroristic threats against the student.

From the ACCPD…

On October 9, 2019, a Clarke County School District (CCSD) student became distressed during class and made a verbal threat that referenced a weapon. The student was removed from the classroom and the threat was immediately communicated to the CCSD administration, who disciplined the student in accordance with the CCSD Code of Conduct. A letter explaining the incident was sent to parents of students at the school. The incident was investigated by ACCPD’s Criminal Investigations Division. After investigation, ACCPD issued a juvenile complaint for Terroristic Threats for the student. Working as partners, the Clarke County School District and the Athens-Clarke County Police Department take the security of school children and employees seriously and encourage families to discuss the dangers of weapons and the use of threatening language in school.
