As we move closer to the August 5 start of a new school year in Athens, the Clarke County School Board names a new principal for Hilsman Middle School: Capucina Douglas comes to Athens from Social Circle, where she has served as principal of the middle school there.
“Ms. Douglass’ track record of school improvement is quite impressive,” said Demond Means, Superintendent of Clarke County Schools. “Her commitment to excellence in leadership and maximizing the potential of all students aligns perfectly with the mission of the Clarke County School District. I look forward to welcoming her to our team.”
Alps Road, Chase Street, and Fowler Drive elementary schools still have principal vacancies. The Clarke County School District says those schools will likely begin the new school year with interim principals.
Oconee County School Board members, gearing up for the August 7 start of the new school year, meet tonight: it’s a 6 o’clock session at Oconee County School District headquarters on School Street in Watkinsville.
