The Clarke County School Board, in a 5-2 vote at last night’s special called Board meeting, approved a millage rate of 18.8 after rejecting a proposal from Board member Tim Denson, who wanted a slightly lower property tax rate of 18.6. The School Board then signed off on a $214 million Clarke County School District budget, a school spending plan for the new fiscal year that begins tomorrow.

During a called meeting on Thursday, June 29, the Clarke County Board of Education approved keeping the Clarke County School District’s millage rate at 18.8 mills and subsequently approved a budget for fiscal year 2024 in the amount of $214,145,443. The vote followed five public hearings on the millage rate and two on the proposed budget.
