According to the Georgia Department of Public Health, three out of four child car seats are not properly installed.
To address this, the Clarke County Sheriff’s Office is excited to announce its upcoming initiative, FREE Child Car Seat Checks, aimed at providing certified experts who will check car seats for proper installation, ensure existing car seats are the right fit for the child’s age and size and will answer all car seat safety questions.
This community event will be held on Thursday, September 21st, 2023, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the parking lot of Cornerstone Church Athens, located at 4680 Lexington Road in Athens, GA.
Understanding the importance of correctly installed car seats and the lives that can be saved, Sheriff John Q. Williams, in collaboration with several stakeholders including the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, the Department of Public Health and member agencies of the Piedmont Area Traffic Enforcement Network, is committed to the safety of our youth. “After hosting a brief training meeting for member agencies, we will then go to Cornerstone Church Athens to provide car seat checks, free of charge, as a way to give back to our neighbors and ensure the safety of our children,” remarks Sheriff Williams.
The Clarke County Sheriff’s Office is dedicated to fostering positive relationships with the community while ensuring the well-being and safety of its young residents.
