A-CC Commissioners meet today, tonight

Today is a busy day for Athens-Clarke County Commissioners: they will meet in a retreat this morning, a planning session that is underway at 9 o’clock at the Lyndon House Arts Center on Hoyt Street. They’ll reconvene for a 6 o’clock agenda setting session at City Hall. There is more Commission talk about the Firefly Trail and the Oconee Rivers Greenway on the agenda, along with discussion about infrastructure work on Clayton Street.

The Board of Directors of the Morton Theatre meets this evening in Athens: it’s a 6:30 session at the Morton on Washington Street.

Madison County's Planning and Zoning Board meets, 6:30 this evening in Danielsville.

The Barrow County School Board meets tonight in Winder: the Board is expected to ratify the selection of Jordan Raper as the newest member of the Barrow County Board of Education. Raper was selected last week to fill the unexpired term of Rolando Alvarez. Alvarez left the School Board to run in a March 19 special election to fill an unexpired term on the Barrow County Commission.

There will be a special election in March to fill a vacant seat on the City Council in Hartwell: candidates will qualify January 28 through 30 to fill the unexpired term of Councilman Billy Ethridge, who died this past November at the age of 82.
