Defendants in deadly shooting sentenced in Stephens Co

Two suspects accused in the 2016 shooting death of 21 year old Tomas Colbert will spend the next 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to lesser charges: Marqkeela Hill and William McElveen entered their pleas in Stephens County Superior Court and were sentenced on counts of conspiracy to commit murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Colbert was shot and killed at an apartment in Toccoa in February of 2016.

A Barrow County man is charged in a string of burglaries in Gwinnett County. Jason Jones is 37 years old, from Winder. He's accused in home breaks in and around Dacula.

Athens-Clarke County Police are investigating a reported home break-in in which the victim says his AR-15 was stolen: it happened at a home on Georgia Avenue in Athens.

The man police say drove the getaway car after the shooting death of a Gwinnett County police officer last month allegedly engaged in gang-related actions before then. 19 year-old Isaiah Pretlow is in the Gwinnett County jail, being held without bond in connection with the shooting of Officer Antwan Toney. Gwinnett County Police shot and killed an 18 year-old suspect also believed involved in the Toney shooting. Tahfaree Maynard was the focus of a massive manhunt before he tracked down two days after the officer was killed.
