DOT awards contract for work on 441

The Georgia DOT awards a contract for work on Highway 441: resurfacing and restriping from Thomas Farm Road in Bishop to the Oconee-Morgan county line. The DOT says it's a $2.5 million project, with a 12-month timetable.

From the Georgia Department of Transportation...

Georgia DOT has awarded a maintenance project to address the deteriorating infrastructure occurring on State Route 24/US 441. The project will consist of milling, resurfacing and restriping from the Morgan County line to just north of Thomas Farm Road.

The project has been awarded to Pittman Construction Company of Conyers, Ga. for approximately $2.5 million. The expected resurfacing project timeframe is 12 months, weather permitting, once notice to proceed is provided to the contractors. The typical paving season is from March through November.

Please be aware that this maintenance project is a separate effort from PI#s 0013613 (Bishop Bypass) and 0013617 that include the corridor from the Madison Bypass to the Watkinsville Bypass (Morgan and Oconee Counties) that are determining what improvements are needed on SR 24/US 441 in the same area. These projects are just beginning the concept development phase and are not scheduled to be let to construction until sometime around 2021.

“There is great importance for us to maintain our roads and bridges and advance safety projects throughout the state,” said District Engineer Brent Cook. “This project is an example of our commitment to improving deteriorating infrastructure in a timely fashion to ensure the safety of the traveling public and to provide efficient mobility for continued growth.”
