Today is a dedication day in Athens: there is a 2 o’clock ceremony in Dudley Park, cutting the ribbon on park upgrades that include a new amphitheater, a pedestrian plaza, and public art.

Improvements for Dudley Park will provide for infrastructure improvements in accordance with the revised Dudley Park Master Plan as approved by the Mayor and Commission on June 5, 2018. M&C approved the prioritized list of improvements for the park on November 5, 2018. Schematic Design was approved by M&C on February 4, 2020. Work has been awarded to the local on-call contractor, Structural Resources, Inc. Approximately 75-80% of the work and materials is being done or acquired by local vendors.
Project Updates
The Contractor has completed the bathroom facility exterior waterproofing, 90% of the roof is installed, 80% of the exterior siding is complete, and the gable ends are finished. The pavilion has 50% of the perimeter sidewalk installed and is ready for the roof material to be installed which is expected in late June. The Contractor has finished grading the area and is preparing to begin hardscape installation. All underground electrical conduit has been installed and working to install the irrigation conduits. The project is on schedule for completion late summer 2021.
Public Art for Dudley Park - M&C awarded the selection of artist & art for Dudley Park to Krysia Ara - “Heron Sighting”. The Artist is set to start the mosaic fabrication in late June/ July 2021 and is anticipated to be installed in September 2021.
