Shannon Rush gets a thirty-year prison sentence, with fifteen to serve, after pleading guilty to bank robbery charges in Elbert County Superior Court: Rush robbed two banks in Elberton earlier this year, one in January and the other in June.
Shannon Carter is in custody in Tennessee: he's the man accused of hitting a Jackson County Sheriff's Deputy with a car during an incident that happened in July. Carter was arrested after allegedly doing the same thing to a police officer in Kingsport Tennessee. Carter is 25 years old, from Braselton.
A Jackson County man is arrested on child molestation charges: Bobby Peppers is 30 years old, from Arcade. He's being held without bond in the Jackson County jail.
A traffic stop leads to a big methamphetamine bust in Banks County: police in Baldwin say an estimated $100,000 worth of meth was confiscated and one arrest was made. Javier Alvarado is 25 years old, from Candler North Carolina.
The Georgia State Patrol says an Alpharetta man was killed in a motorcycle crash in Lumpkin County: Troopers say Matthew Cohen crashed his bike on Highway 11 near the Lumpkin-Union County line.
The Habersham County Sheriff's Office is warning residents about a police impersonator, a man driving a black Dodge Charger and attempting to stop motorists by flashing his lights. Investigators say they are getting similar reports out of Hart County.
A 29 year-old Lawrenceville man gets seven years in federal prison for hacking into people's bank accounts and siphoning off their money. Federal prosecutors in Atlanta say Justin Tony ran a scheme that netted more than $1.3 million. He’s also been ordered to pay restitution.
