Elberton suspends recycling as coronavirus precaution

The city of Elberton says it will be suspending residential curbside recycling collection until the end of April: officials in Elberton say it's part of the city's response to the public health emergency declared because of coronavirus. The Recycling Center on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard will remain open. Citizens may drive through the Recycling Center area and drop off their recyclables at any time Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Banks in Franklin, Hart, and Stephens counties are among those that are closing doors to bank customers and offering banking services only at drive-up windows, doing so in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

The state Department of Public Health reports 1,097 confirmed cases of coronavirus and 38 COVID 19 deaths in 85 Georgia counties. Fulton County has the most cases, with 191.
